Feast of Saint Bartholomew, Apostle

But Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from Nazareth? Jn 1:45-51

Jesus did not choose the perfect, He choose those who kept the light of goodness burning in their hearts regardless of their situation. St. Bartholomew was one of those people. He was conversant with the trends of his time and the different political and religious leanings, but he also knew in his heart what the truth about the promise of God to Isreal is. He proclaimed upon meeting Jesus “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.” May his feast bring us more in touch with our true goodness and light. St. Bartholomew died a martyr in Armenia.
