Christ the King.

Today, as we honor the solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe, we stand on the threshold of a temporal shift. This moment signifies the culmination of ordinary time, ushering us into a new liturgical year with the advent of Advent—an intentional season dedicated to preparing for the Lord’s imminent presence. As we cast our glance over the swiftly passing year, let us also cast our vision forward, embracing the approaching new year with hope and eager anticipation.

The sovereignty of Christ should not merely be a concept but a reality in both our external and internal lives. Externally, we express this sovereignty through worship and profession, openly declaring our faith and striving to align our lives with His teachings. However, the internal landscape presents its own set of challenges. Surrendering entirely to Christ’s rule within our hearts can be a daunting task. Confronted by sin, enticed by distractions, and lured by the world’s allure, the internal struggle may seem insurmountable. Yet, through acts of confession and conscientious self-reflection, we can overcome these obstacles, paving the way for Christ’s dominion in our hearts.

In yielding to Christ’s reign in our professions, actions, and innermost beings, we witness the flourishing of a kingdom characterized by justice, peace, and compassion. In this state, we become conduits of His love and mercy, casting His light upon the world. Our deeds and words reflect His teachings, and we emerge as catalysts for positive transformation in the world.

As we commemorate Christ the King today, let us remember that His dominion extends far beyond a mere day or specific timeframe. We pray for the grace to be obedient to the King who, in obedience, bore the cross. May Christ reign over our lives today, tomorrow, and for all eternity. Let us diligently work towards actualizing His sovereignty in our thoughts, expressions, and deeds. May His love and grace serve as guiding forces in every facet of our existence.

Viva Christi! Long live Christ the King!
