Saturday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time

“Therefore do not be afraid of them. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed,
nor secret that will not be known What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light;
what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna..
Mt 10:24-33

According to St. Augustine “the greatest kindness one can render to any man is leading him to the truth”. Putting the truth first is great virtue. This does not mean it is without hazards. Jesus did speak the truth, and then left it up to His hearers to accept or not accept what He had to say. Truth without humility is blind. That is why it becomes contentious: it tries to support itself on something, and find nothing except rancour.” St. Ilias the Presbyter.
