The children of this age marry and remarry; but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age
and to the resurrection of the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.
They can no longer die, for they are like angels; and they are the children of God Lk 20:27-40
While all good things and experiences around us (marriage and the priesthood inclusive) are gifts of God’s goodness and grace, they compare very insignificantly to what the Son of God promises after our earthly experience. It is good to dwell on the transitory nature of things from time to time and to let the word of God unveil the temporality of all human structures and institutions. Lord, May your Kingdom come. Amen.
PS The year of St. Joseph gradually draws to a close.
