Teach us to number our days aright,
that we may gain wisdom of heart. Psalm 90: verse 12

This verse from today’s Psalm is a subtle reminder of about the need to be aware of our limitations. There is wisdom in this awareness. There is also wisdom in knowing the limitation of others so we do not expect too much from them. Often we expect from our fellow mortals what only the God can give. Yet God in giving, work with us as vessels or instruments of his Divine will. So in words of St. Theresa of Avilla,
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffice.
