So they went off and preached repentance. The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them. Mk 6:7-13

I imagine how much difference “the Twelve” made in the life of these they come across and ministered to, when they were sent out by Jesus. The sick were especially highlighted in the readings today. When a person becomes ill, or affected by an incapacitating crisis, it sometimes affect a lot of things around them and in their lives. It becomes easy in situations like this to succumb to fear, anxiety and worry. Like the twelve we can anoint with love, care and understanding those going through pain of separation, addiction, illness, divorce or even the covid -19. May we feel empowered to drive out, through empathy and love, the demons of despair in the sick, and their loved ones.
