If you, O Lord, mark iniquities, who can stand?
It is good, from time to time, to pause and reflect on the fact that God is all knowing. This fact should not scare us for there are things we prefer God does not find out about us. Through Jesus, God offers us a way back to him especially when the awareness of our weakness fills us with shame and embarrassment. He has not dealt with us according to our sins or repaid us according to our iniquities. (Psalm103:10) because his steadfast love never ceases; and his mercies never come to an end. (Lamentations 3:22)
So in the words of “Have you sinned today? Have you made your soul old? Do not despair, do not despond, but renew your soul by repentance, and tears, and Confession, and by doing good things. And never cease doing this.”
― John Chrysostom AKA golden mouth.
