The value of a thing does not depend on the number of people who supports it. Some truths are difficult to accept, and some commandments are difficult to follow. When it gets tough may I repeat with Joshua ‘As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD”. When it appears easier to follow my will and serve my flesh may I be strong enough to reply like Peter  “to whom shall I go?  You have the words of eternal life.”

In every age, O God, you give your people freedom
to walk in faith or to turn away.
Grant us grace to remain faithful to your Holy One,
whose words are spirit and life, Amen
