Tuesday of the Fourth Week of Lent

The angel brought me, Ezekiel back to the entrance of the temple of the LORD,
and I saw water flowing out from beneath the threshold of the temple toward the east,
Ez 47:1-9, 12

Ezekiel had a vision of water flowing from the temple and making all things fresh and beautiful, giving life to plants and to living creatures. Indeed goodness and life flows from the Church, the community of God’s people. Jesus is the source of this goodness. Through our baptism and commitment to Christ, we become channels of this lively flow to the world. Perhaps when Peter preached after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, he was standing on the south stairs, where the water in Ezekiel’s vision flowed!
