“Why are you so resentful and crestfallen.
If you do well, you can hold up your head;
but if not, sin is a demon lurking at the door:
his urge is toward you, yet you can be his master.”

The story of Cain and Abel and their sacrifices, revels something about our common priesthood through our baptism in Christ.

Like Cain and Abel we are called by God (by virtue of our common priesthood) to offer sacrifices well. Sacrifices of goodness through our words thoughts and deeds and a life of faith, hope, and charity- a life according to the Spirit.

There are times we feel our sacrifice is not enough or acceptable. Like Cain we kind of know. But God warns against letting this lead us to temptation or to resentment. A grateful heart, a humbled contrite heart is a sacrifice also acceptable to God. So, In the words of St. Paul, be cool calm and steady, and keep performing duties of your ministry. 2 Timothy 4:5. Have a great day!

PS. Please remember Fr. Seraphim Michelanko in your prayers. He was a great apostle of Divine Mercy and passed to eternal life on the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes 2021. He was 90 years old.
